Description A three-movement composition for English horn with the movement sequence allegro - moderato - presto. The concert for English horn and concert band was created to show the variety of the English horn and contrast it with the concert band. The dance motif at the beginning of the first movement lives mainly by the asymmetry of the 4/4 time (3+3+2) and by frequent changes of metre. Right from the first bar the soloist can show emotional power and artistic feeling in the second movement, gently the counterpoint follows after some bars. A romantic mood of distinctive beauty is created. With a lot of empathy the mood is created further, slowly the entire concert band joins in and explosively flows into the third movement. The presto offers a lot of possibilities to the soloist to prove his technical skill and the great range of the instrument. The instrumentation of the concert band is - especially in the accompanying passages - deliberately kept very thin and is often limited to few instruments. The third movement ends with a cadence which again reflects all the themes.
